Summer Cruise

At long last something ‘Cruising’ was not dogged by bad weather and the ‘Summer Cruise’ went ahead with 3 boats taking part: Mike & Sandra Poulding’s Nimbus 335C ‘Carpe Diem’, Paul & Michelle Steele’s Southerly 135RS ‘Johanem II’ & Phil & Julie Ball’s Maxi 1050 ‘Meltemi’.

The original plan was to visit St Cast, St Quay, Binic & Paimpol but St Quay was almost immediately dropped (although Mike & Sandra Poulding spent one night there prior to returning) and Lezardrieux was substituted for Paimpol when it was discovered that the RYS Summer Cruise (25 boats!) was heading in that direction.

The weather was fine throughout, perfect for motor but more wind might have been welcomed on occasion by the 2 sail boats. St Cast is an excellent new marina (www.digimap.gg/st_cast) with the main facilities shortly to be completed, Binic was delightful, and Lezardrieux was Lezardrieux.

Whilst a small beginning if the concept of cruising in company, possibly having somebody to guide you to your berth and take your lines, pre-dinner drinks on a boat other than your own, sharing a table at dinner (excellent meal at the ‘Auberge du Trieux’ in Lezardrieux on the final night) and most importantly good company then please get in touch.
