As the Guernsey RS Feva sailors travel to Brittany for the ALLEN RS Feva World Championship, the younger Optimist sailors head north for the Volvo Musto Optimist British National and Open Championship. Over the course of next week, eleven Guernsey Optimist juniors will be among the approximately 500 sailors battling it out for the National Championship titles at the 2012 Olympic waters of Weymouth.

Later this week the Guernsey RS Feva sailors will travel south to Brittany for the highlight of the season, the ALLEN RS Feva World Championships. On the waters off Carnac, the four Guernsey RS Fevas will face the stiffest imaginable competition the class can offer with 140 plus boats from eight nations on the start line.

The Carling Club Championship saw another weekend of very light wind and strong tides making the sailing exceptionally challenging, in particular for the Optimists with the short waterline and small sails. Although the courses were set close to shore in Havelet Bay, the ability to master the tides proved decisive.
On Saturday the racing took place in the afternoon with the wind dropping from light to almost non-existent. The sailors came off to an even start but sneaking close to shore more...

After a Saturday that saw the yachts slowly make their way to Jersey in the Carey Olsen inter-insular regatta and left the juniors stranded on shore with no wind, this Sunday morning offered a nice, light northerly breeze and the young Optimist, RS Feva and Laser sailors took to the waters to compete in the PKF Junior Regatta and the Admiral Robson Trophy.
In the first race of the PKF Regatta which also incorporated the Admiral Robson Trophy handicap race, Sam Van de Velde in his Laser...

In excellent conditions offering bright sunshine and a nice breeze and with a record number of participants, the Atlas Recruitment Trophy race went underway this morning. In two average lap handicap races, Optimists, RS Fevas and Laser Radials battled it out for the attractive wood and glass trophy sponsored by Atlas Recruitment.
