Robert Dodsworth - Rear Commodore MotorRobert “Doddy” Dodsworth is well knows in local boating and a GYC member for over 30 years and worked for the Harbour Authorities before moving to Guernsey Sheet Metal. He served on the Lifeboat for a number of years and is now a volunteer engineer for the "Flying Christine III".
Doddy is a Powerboat Safety officer and Officer of the Day (OOD) for the RYA and was part of the team (together with Clive Maides and Edward Fattorini) who won the RYA Volvo Penta European Boat Handling Competition at the Southampton Boat Show.
BoatsDoddy part owns a Sunseeker 43’ Tomahawk "Blue Thunder" with petrol engines. Previous boats included a good old 16 foot Fletcher, a Birchwood 22, a 21ft Coronet and a lovely 25ft Triana.
Damon Hackley Damon is a Charted Town Planner and has worked for the States for over 20 years, currently working for the Policy Council. His first experience with boats was on his dad’s yacht (shock, horror) but after a spin in a friend’s 16ft Fletcher he was converted to power. Watching boats race in North Beach bay was enough to give him the bug for powerboat racing and he first competed locally in 1988. His racing highlights were taking part in the 1994 Offshore Circuit Racing world championships (finishing 5th) and the 1995 Class III 2 litre Europeans, before running out of engines and fibreglass and deciding to retire. BoatsDamon owns a Sunseeker Mustique 42 ‘Solaris’ with his partner Claire. Previous boats include a Phantom 18, a Phantom 21 and a Formula 272 with twin petrol V8s. Dave LeathamAustralian born and a Licensed aircraft Engineer. Dave has set up his own business Direct Aviation Services covering all aspect of aviation, from managing aircraft to sourcing private aircraft for that special trip or busines travel requirements. In 1990 he moved to New Zealand to work as a supervisor with Air New Zealand Link. BoatsWhilst living in Nelson New Zealand and having the sea and lakes on my door step he found a new passion and became the proud owner on a 16ft Fletch with a 70hp evinrude. After spending a couple of summers water skiing and fishing he upgraded to a 21ft Sea Ray with a 225 susuki outboard. Arrived in Guernsey in 1998 to assist with the set up of Aurigny when they took over the KLM UK routes. Boating took a back seat whilest furthering his career in Europe, until moving back to Guernsey in 2004 where he managed to convince his wife Wendy that it would be great for the family, with France and Jersey a stones through away, to purchase a boat. Dave is now the proud owner of "Calandry" a Falcon 27 and like all boat owners trying to convince hisother half he needs to upgrade! Colin Le ConteColin is the computer man. He has produced a number of web sites for his company Digimap and this includes Marina Tide times, an AIS tracking system, and a site on all the marinas within reach of the Channel Islands. He has also produced the St Peter Port lifeboat web site.
Colin was Chief of Computer systems and Chief timekeeper for the Union International Motonautique and overall Administrator for Class 1 for 14 years.
BoatsPrevious boats include a 21’ Coronet called "Sovereign" and a Princess 266 called "JumpinJack". He currently has a Windy Grand Mistral 37 "Halcyon Breeze".
Robert RidoutRobert has grown up with boats all his life. He was pictured rescuing people in Malvern in a small boat during the floods a number of years ago. He then went on to be the youngest ever driver to drive the Class 1 rigs around the world for the top powerboat teams including a number of years with the Victory Team from Dubai.
Robert is often seen driving Redoutable and has become very proficient in his boat handling.
BoatsRobert owned a yellow Sunseeker Hawk 34 and now pilots the 53’ Sunseeker "Redoutable".
