GYC Motor Trip to Carteret
It might have taken two attempts, but the GYC Motor Section trip to Carteret finally took place and in the process fully lived up to expectations as the Committee’s ‘Blue Ribbon’ event. The trip was originally planned to take place in June but had to be postponed because the Committee felt it would reflect badly on our sailing colleagues if our event were to go ahead on the same weekend that the Carey Olsen race was postponed due to high winds and rough...

Key Routes and Passages
It was one of those days.  You know what it’s like; some days just exceed expectations.  Whether it was the fact that we overcame the weather (GYC 5: Weather 1) or that everyone involved seemed to be having a fantastic time, the GYC Motor Committee’s third 2011 event turned out to be an absolute stonker. First of all, huge thanks have to go to John Frankland who allowed a booklet to be produced for GYC Motor members attending the event which used his extensive...

The most eagerly anticipated event of the year took place at the Yacht Club on Saturday night.  No, not the Ridout boys’ annual shave, but the launch of the Motor Committee’s plans for the 2011 season.

The attendance figure was simply staggering.  Over 70 people gathered to meet fellow motor boaters and to find out first hand what the Committee has lined up for the year.

We were of course delighted to see such a strong turn out, which we think is in no small part down...
