Saturday 9th October saw a very packed GYC filled with eager hopeful winners. Glen Stanfield very kindly provided the excellent questions. Our Quizmaster for the evening was the lovely Sam Field and our score keeper my son Andrew. Thank you gentlemen.The questions where not too bad, everything going very smoothly until, ahh - the last round, impossible! We had to fill every other line to our very own Guernsey song, Sarnia Cherie (pity anyone who played their joker!)...
The Guernsey Yacht Club celebrated its 120th anniversary on 10th September in a marquee on the balcony. Around 80 people attended all dressed up in dinner suits and gorgeous evening wear for the ladies. The marquee looked fantastic, all decorated out in GYC burgee colours, white, red and yellow, with the same colours for the balloons with GYC printed on them. The chefs did an amazing job with the meat and seafood platter followed by traditional 1890’s...
Over 50 people attended this short event ensuring that the Commodores Room was packed once again. A great atmosphere, much shouting and a few winners helped to make this very enjoyable.
Those that attended the lunch reported that the event was a big success with over 60 members and guests attending. Special mention was made of the table decorations
