A packed clubhouse with 82 tickets sold for the “Gourmet Cruise Around The World” dinner and dance.

Party goers arrived in a wide variety of costumers. Many went Posh and wore Black Tie and Cocktail Dresses but the prizes, if there were any, went to the party of 24 who all turned up variously dressed as pirates and to the couple who turned an old Spinnaker into a strapless dress for her and a toga for him!!

The menu was brilliant and the food was even better! We had Spanish tapas, Japanese Sea Bass Teriyaki, Caribbean Jerk Chicken and Moroccan Lamb with Couscous followed by Black Forest Gateaux with homemade Viennese biscuits. Nobody had a better New Year dinner than us. Many, many thanks to Chef Colin and his team in the kitchen. Also to Vanessa and her front-of-house team who provided truly excellent service throughout the evening and well into the morning after everyone had departed.

The music was provided by a team of members who went to extraordinary lengths to provide music from around the world and a sound system that actually worked (after a few problems at the rehearsals) for the disco.

The fact that the revived GYC newsletter carried adverts for the Dinner and persuaded so many people to attend just shows how this bulletin is now so important. If you are not yet on the circulation list then please send your email details to the Secretary.
