Volunteers are at the heart of the GYC. We are a busy club and we are very lucky to have many members who give up their time to enable us to run events both on and off the water. What differentiates us as a club and not a business is that our members help out, and there are plenty behind the scenes keeping the club going but we need more!
We have sub-committees for Motor, Social, Sail, House, Rowing and Cruising and are always looking for extra hands. It is a great way to get involved with the club and meet new people and you don’t need to to be able to sail to get involved, sometimes it’s as simple as talking with our members.
If you are able to give a little of your time you can make a big difference.
How you can help:
Volunteer Co-ordinator – The key purpose of the Club Volunteer Coordinator role is to act as a focal point for volunteers at the GYC, raising the profile of volunteers by providing support and advice.
Webmaster – help manage and update our website and social media
Events – helpers are always needed at our social events
Juniors – help on the slipway, making hot drinks for cold sailors, helper in a rib/bombard. We also need qualified PB2 rib drivers and Dinghy Instructors
Sailing – rib crew and assistance in the race hut on race mornings/evenings. No experience necessary
