Pirates – for younger sailors

Pirates is a ‘club within a club’ based at the Guernsey Yacht Club open to children aged 5 to 11 years old, and provides the opportunity for younger sailors to experience learning to handle a small sailing boat in the safe confines of the Model Yacht Pond.

Pirates is not a sailing school but uses “Oppie” boats loaned by the Guernsey Sailing Trust (GST) to allow the children to sail under close supervision by Guernsey Yacht Club sailing coaches.

Pirates takes place on Saturday mornings during the summer and autumn terms.

Pirates sailing is open to all; you do not have to be a member of the GYC.
